Edo Glass" is a drip-free soy sauce dispenser crafted using traditional Edo glass techniques, with each stopper and body individually hand-smoothed by artisans. Its simple, easy-to-use design has been a constant feature of the company since its founding. "Edo Glass" refers to glass products handcrafted in accordance with traditions dating back to the Edo period. The beauty of handmade glassware is that, unlike mass-produced products, each one is unique and original. The unique design and depth that can only be achieved through handcrafting are the result of the artisans' meticulous craftsmanship. In 2002, it was certified as a Tokyo Traditional Craft.
Iwasawa Glass began manufacturing glass in Koto Ward in 1917. It was temporarily suspended during the war due to a merger, but resumed operations in Sumida Ward in 1951. Under the guidance of two Tokyo Traditional Craftsmen on staff, each product is handcrafted in accordance with the traditions of "Edo Glass." When the company was first founded, it mainly produced lenses (for car and motorcycle lights) and screw-top soy sauce dispensers. Today, however, it offers a wide range of glass products, including tableware, vases, paperweights, and trophies.
