Woody Joe 1/75 Sir Winston Churchill Wooden Model Assembly Kit
Reborn as a completely redesigned version! The S.W. Churchill was the largest training ship owned by the former maritime power, the United Kingdom.
In 1955, the British proposed the launch of a tall ship race system.
However, since the UK did not own any sailing ships capable of participating in the race, the country initially participated by chartering sailing ships from other countries.
As calls for Britain to have its own tall ship grew, in 1964 the Sail Training Association, with the Duke of Edinburgh as its successor, decided to build and commission the S.W. Churchill. With donations from numerous maritime organizations and citizens across the country, the ship, just under 300 tons, was launched in 1966, carrying the hopes of the British people.
Unlike other countries' sailing ships, which are training ships for naval and merchant marine officers, this ship is used by young people, both male and female, from all regions and classes of the country, for sea-based education, with the primary goal of fostering disciplined group living and group activities.
In the 1976 transatlantic race, 42 female cadets embarked, attracting worldwide attention.
Woody Joe's original box structure precisely determines the hull shape, and even difficult tasks such as drilling holes for the portholes and positioning the shafts are solved with laser processing.
Etching and soft metal are used in various areas to give the steel ship a more realistic and sharper appearance.
This latest model overcomes one problem after another that plagues wooden models, fully demonstrating Woody Joe's technical capabilities and high quality.
