DescriptionBook How to get to know Podlasie?life wrote. With words, I painted pictures of my experiences, delights, joys, reflections, and thoughts.. I am sharing what Podlasie has taught me over the last 25 years. The words sometimes seem too tight, so they are supplemented by photographs that you will find here. I didn't want to write another book about Podlasie that would be a copy or interpretation of what has already been told or published.. I reached deep into my heart and threw open the windows of my soul to share my own story about how I got to know Podlasie. I deeply believe that this book will help others discover the beauty of this land. I invite you to the Land of People with Open Hearts and Open Shutters!MIKOŁAJ GOSPODAREK If you would like to know– where Leonardo da Vinci lives in Podlasie– where there is a town with a well in the middle of the road– where the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises are over the Biebrza, Bug, and Narew rivers, and where the nature trails are– how to avoid mosquitoes in the Białowieża Forest– how to find the sources of the Biebrza River– where to eat to fall in love with kartacze (potato dumplings) with pure love until the end of your days– where to catch up on lost sleep– which small towns to visit– which Orthodox church to peek into– in which village to stop to listen to the melodic speech– where to best hear the silence and see a million starsThen this book is definitely for you. From Mikołaj Gospodarek's guide, you will learn things about Podlasie that even Podlasie itself does not know about itself. I wrote the first one with my mind. I wrote this with my heart. This book will not contain dates, descriptions of historical events, or biographical notes. All of this has already been written. Once. It is available in books, magazines, and the internet. Why would I rewrite it in my own words? I planned this from the beginning and I already know that I succeeded, without reaching for any sources. The only sources were memory, the heart, and... of course, photos. Life wrote the content of this book. I have been getting to know Podlasie since 1999.. Describing this many-year process of getting acquainted with this region, I involuntarily become a guide to the places I like.. I only write about such people. The formula of this book, which is also a guide in a way, allows me to do that.. But to others, unusual. To Podlasie, step by step, taught me how I should deal with it. I only share what I have experienced myself. After all, I am an ordinary town dweller with a camera who loves to roam around Podlasie. For those who know Podlasie, perhaps this book will become a sentimental journey.. Those who don't know Podlasie will find – I hope – a lot of inspiration. Maybe I'll inspire them to head east. Maybe they will start writing their own Podlasie story.
