Product Introduction
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu as its deity and is the founding shrine of all Toshogu Shrines across Japan.
Ieyasu, who founded the Edo Shogunate, spent his time as a Shogun in Sunpu (present-day central Shizuoka City) and passed away in 1616 at the age of 75. According to his will, his remains were interred on Mount Kuno (Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City). Later, the second shogun, Hidetada, ordered the founding of Kunozan Toshogu Shrine.
The main hall and worship hall (one building) are designated National Treasures.
The Romon (Important Cultural Property) is a two-story, vermilion-lacquered gate located atop stone steps next to the shrine office on the grounds. It is said to separate the secular world from the sacred precincts.
A plaque reading "Tosho Daigongen" hangs in the center, and a carving of a baku, a sacred beast considered a symbol of peace, welcomes worshippers on its frog-legged legs.
A zuishin (attendant) is placed within the lattice door on the front side of the gate, while a lion and a pair of guardian lions are placed within the fence on the back side.
This kit recreates the "Romon" gate of Kunozan Toshogu Shrine in 1/75 scale.
The texture and beauty of the wooden architecture are captured by assembling it using processed wooden parts.
With its precise parts configuration and convenient size, this kit is recommended for beginners to wooden model kits.
