Introduction
2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the start of her career as a world-renowned violinist, Teiko Maebashi.
She embarked on a journey abroad at a young age, becoming the first Japanese to study abroad at the Leningrad Conservatory. She then studied under virtuoso violinists such as Szigeti and Milstein in Switzerland, before returning to Japan in 1980. Since then, she has released 15 albums as an exclusive violinist for Sony Music. To commemorate this achievement, we are releasing a two-CD best-of album featuring the best takes from her recordings for Sony Music.
Disc 1 features a collection of concertos performed with orchestras, while Disc 2 features a selection of solo works.
Disc 2 also includes a track from her latest album (Avex) after moving from our label, making this set a true journey through Teiko Maebashi's discography. The jacket photo was by Kishin Shinoyama.
