If you're looking for San Marzano tomatoes, you're choosing quality. You're choosing the highest quality tomatoes, naturally sweet, with little water, a variety considered the best in the world. San Marzano tomatoes are a product protected by an EU certificate.
They are a regional product that can only be produced in a specific region of Italy. However, due to their reputation and undeniable quality, San Marzano tomatoes are expensive, and this is their drawback.
Currently, canned tomatoes cost 30-35 złoty for 2.5 kg. That's well over 11-12 złoty per kilogram of tomato, which is used in huge quantities in restaurants, pizzerias, and restaurants.
