Tulsidas Ramayana: Ram Charit Manas (English and Hindi Edition)

Tulsidas (15321623 AD) poet and philosopher told the story of Ram, prince of Ayodhya in Avadhi, a dialect of Hindi Spoken in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradhesh.

Ram Charit Manas consists of over thousand stanzas, each about 1018 lines.

Over the years it has been dramatised and performed by numerous theatre troupes.

The dramatisation is known as Ramlila and has become an integral part of Dassera celebrations, especially in th regions that speak Hindi.

By telling the story of Ram in a common language, Tulsidas made the Ramayan, which was written originally in Sanskrit, accessible to the masses.
