・[Kamawanu] hand towels are made with total-weave (bun) fabric. Compared to the specially fine fabric used for *e-tenugui* (picture hand towels), this fabric has a coarser weave and is thicker. As a result, it is highly absorbent and breathable, making it a practical hand towel. Total-weave fabric gains character with use.
・There are two main types of fabric used for hand towels: “bun” and “oka.” Bun fabric is woven with thicker, 20-count yarn, while oka fabric is woven with finer, 30-count yarn. Oka fabric’s fine yarn allows for a tighter weave and more delicate designs, such as intricate patterns and gradations. Bun fabric, made with thicker yarn, has a coarser weave. This results in superior breathability and absorbency, making it ideal for use as a handkerchief or dishcloth. However, due to its coarser weave, it cannot reproduce the fine detail of oka fabric, but it offers the appeal of feeling the texture of the cloth.
