The Sony ECM-B10 is an ultra-compact camera-mount digital shotgun microphone designed for content creators, podcasters, and videographers using Sony α (Alpha) cameras equipped with a Multi Interface (MI) Shoe, delivering clear, focused audio in a remarkably small package.
Pickup Patterns & Beamforming
- Four high-performance microphone capsules combined with advanced beamforming technology deliver strong directivity while rejecting off-axis sound
- Three switchable pickup patterns selected via a simple rear-panel switch:
- Super-directional: tightly focuses on a single subject directly in front of the camera, ideal for interviews and selfies
- Unidirectional: a wider capture area, suited to two subjects or a broader shot
- Omnidirectional: captures sound in a 360° field, picking up ambience and voices from all directions, including behind the camera
Audio Quality & Controls
- Digital signal processing with an Auto/Manual level switch for automatic or precise manual audio level control
- Low Cut Filter (LC) reduces wind noise and low-frequency rumble; Noise Cut Filter (NC) uses digital processing to reduce unwanted background noise; both filters can also be turned off
- When paired with a compatible MI Shoe camera, audio transmits as a fully digital signal for high-quality sound without degradation
Design & Build
- Remarkably compact at just approx. 79.3mm (3.1") in length, leaving clearance for wide-angle lenses, viewfinder use, and gimbal or grip-mounted shots
- Cable-free, battery-free operation — power is drawn directly from the camera via the MI Shoe
