The MXR M251 FOD DRIVE is an overdrive pedal that combines two circuits: one that reproduces the sound of high-gain amplifiers and another that reproduces crunch sounds. It features two distinct sounds in a single pedal. The MXR team thoroughly analyzed two customized amplifiers owned by famous artists. By freely mixing the sounds of these two amplifiers, an ideal overdrive that cannot be achieved with a single amplifier was created. The four knobs control GAIN, TONE, OUTPUT, and BLEND, allowing for mixing of the two amplifier sounds via the BLEND knob. The scoop switch located in the center of the knobs enables three settings: flat, scoop, and boost, allowing for bold equalization. Two trims on the internal circuit board allow for fine adjustment of the crunch circuit's gain and volume, enabling more detailed sound shaping.
