The M80 is a highly excellent microphone that combines the performance of a condenser microphone with the durability of a dynamic microphone. It features a unidirectional polar pattern with a wide dynamic range and frequency response. The body is made with rubber laminate to reduce handling noise, and the diaphragm produces an open, wide tone that maintains presence without getting buried in mixes. The key features of the M80 include a newly designed Rosma voice coil, an ultra-thin Mylar diaphragm, and a custom output transformer from AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk. This new diaphragm design converts sound into electrical signals efficiently without sacrificing tonal quality, unlike traditional heavy diaphragms and voice coils. The output transformer from AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk provides a warm yet present sound characteristic of vintage analog audio. The proximity effect in the bass is well controlled, making it an excellent microphone not only for vocals but also for recording drums and bass. *Note: The inner diameter of the screw hole for the microphone holder is 5/8 inch.
