Mother yeast is a yeast inoculum that helps yeast start fermentation faster. Here's a simple way to prepare it: ✨ Ingredients: 150 ml of fruit juice (e.g. grape, apple) or 200 g of crushed fruit, 300 ml of boiled and cooled water, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1 packet of wine yeast (approx. 5 g). ✨ Preparation: Creating the base - mix the juice or crushed fruit with water and sugar. Pasteurization - heat the mixture to about 70-80°C and keep for 30 minutes, then cool to room temperature. Adding the yeast - pour the contents of the bag and mix gently. Propagation - leave in a warm place (22-26°C) for 24-48 hours. During this time, the yeast will begin to multiply and form foam. Adding to the must – after 1-2 days, pour the entire contents into the prepared wine must (5-25 L). This prepared mother yeast facilitates the start of fermentation and improves the quality of the wine. For optimal fermentation, it is advisable to add yeast nutrient, which provides the yeast with essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and vitamins. Note: Maintain sterile conditions during all stages of yeast inoculum preparation – pay particular attention to the cleanliness of the vessel in which you will multiply the yeast.
