Aventurine is a precious glass material discovered in the 17th century in Venice by craftsmen from Murano Island. It is famous for its starry-sky-like shimmer, which is due to the inclusion of small copper fragments during the manufacturing process. ① Aventurine is a precious blue glass with a unique luster due to its high copper content. Its origins can be traced back to the early 17th century, attributed to Venetian glassmakers. Currently, this material is mainly used in the creation of works of art, and its ability to reflect light in a unique way is highly valued. ② The aventurine dial, with its luster and coppery sheen, harmonizes with Redentore's neoclassical design, which is inspired by Palladian architecture. Known for its beauty, this material evokes a sense of tradition and history, perfectly complementing the timeless design of this watch. ③ It is said that the name "aventurine" originated in the 17th century from the word "aventura," which meant an uncertain and dangerous task. In fact, the Venetian glassmaker who first produced aventurine did so by accident when he spilled a piece of copper into a blue glass paste.
From 1644 onwards, the manufacturing techniques were systematized, and Venetian aventurine craftsmanship quickly became the most highly regarded of the time. This lithograph accurately depicts the Doge's visit to the workshop on Murano Island, where this glass was produced. ④ The deep blue of the aventurine, with its constellations of tiny fragments of light, evokes the dense mystery of the stars and the darkness of the universe. The dial's structure is completed by a rehaut with a sunburst texture, adding further complexity to the ensemble. ⑤ Aventurine is a difficult material to work with because copper fragments are mixed into the molten glass and evenly arranged during the slow cooling process. To create high-precision parts, aventurine is cold-cut like a hard stone. Today, the production of this material remains very limited due to its complexity and the advanced know-how required. ⑥ Replacement band A replacement band (Canova Bracelet, 20mm band width, material: stainless steel, sold separately) can also be attached. This customization option allows for a wide range of appearances, enabling you to reflect your personal preferences in your watch.
