First ever 1/72 scale model of the Type 89 FV, the first IFV of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force capable of following tanks and engaging in mounted combat. This is the first time the Type 89 FV has been produced in 1/72 scale. The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing, assembly, and painting. Despite being 1/72 scale, the surface reproduction and detailed molding are just as detailed as 1/35 scale. The Type 89 Armored Fighting Vehicle was the first infantry fighting vehicle of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and was officially adopted in 1989. It has performance comparable to IFVs of other countries from the same era, with mobility that allows it to keep pace with the Type 90 tank, which was developed around the same time. It is equipped with a 35mm autocannon as its main gun and Type 79 anti-ship/anti-tank guided missiles (heavy MAT) on the sides of the turret. It is mainly deployed to the 11th Infantry Regiment under the 7th Division in Hokkaido, and to the Infantry Training Regiments on Honshu. Basic Features/Specifications: Includes two Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Type 89 Armored Fighting Vehicles. - 1/72 scale, finished size is 95 x 45 x 39 mm (size without anti-aircraft sights) Hull - Front, left and right sides, and bottom are integrated parts using slide molding, reducing the need for box assembly - The top is an integrated part with the upper sides, pursuing ease of assembly and detail while keeping the number of parts down - The surface reproduces precise welding marks, panel lines, and anti-slip features with fine engraving - The often-omitted bottom part accurately reproduces welding marks and three-dimensional shapes - The rigging shape on the side of the hull, such as the fuel filler cap, inspection steps, and jacks, is an integrated part of the hull - Pioneer tools mounted on the left and right rear sides and the track disassembly tool on the right side are an integrated part of the hull Details - The driver's hatch and squad leader's hatch are separate parts, allowing you to choose between "open" or "closed" - The six gun ports on the sides are provided as separate parts in two forms, "open" and "closed," allowing you to choose between open or closed - The periscope on the upper rear of the hull is a separate part and is provided in a transparent color. - The cooling air outlet/engine exhaust port is a separate part to realistically reproduce the grille shape. - The rearview mirror (backup mirror) equipped when driving on public roads is a separate part. - The rearview mirror mounting area is realistically reproduced on the hull. - The headlights, turn signals, and control vehicle width lights are one-piece parts with clear plastic. - The headlight guard mesh can be reproduced with the included decals. - The gun barrel fixing device is a separate part and can be set to either "fixed" or "open". - The ventilation device on the rear of the hull is a separate part and is three-dimensionally shaped for realism. - The rear lights are molded in the same gray color as the hull turret and the light surface is expressed with recessed engraving. - The rubber fenders at the front and rear of the hull are integrated with the light covers and the rear of the hull, respectively. - The four towing devices at the front and rear of the hull are separate parts to reproduce their unique shape. - The towing cable equipped on the right side of the hull is an extremely thin, one-piece structure. - The pintle hook, which is equipped when towing a 1-ton trailer, can be selected as "equipped" or "not equipped". - The jerrycan holder is designed to be attached only to the top (jerrycan not included in the product).
