Jakuchu's Revival

The legendary masterpiece "Shakyamuni and the Sixteen Arhats Folding Screen," a grid-painting technique by Ito Jakuchu believed to have been lost in the war, is brought back to life through a new visual adventure. Only a monochrome photograph of this lost work remains in an exhibition catalog from the early Showa period. This new work meticulously analyzes it using various documents and utilizes digital technology to recreate what it might have looked like.
