Because Z gauge rails are extremely thin, when creating large layouts, the electrical resistance of the rails can slow down trains traveling farther from the power supply. To minimize this, the cross-sectional area of ​​the rails is made as large as possible without compromising realism, thereby minimizing electrical resistance. The power supply is located on a straight track, allowing for multiple power feeds to ensure uniform train speeds. The power supply includes a cover, which can be left in place when not powered to maintain a clean appearance. The tire tread on the rails is designed to be slightly wider to improve grip for the rubber tires on the wheels.
