★INTRODUCTION
The Sword Art Online novel series (published by Dengeki Bunko) by Reki Kawahara, winner of the Grand Prize at the 15th Dengeki Novel Awards.
The story follows the exploits of protagonist Kirito in the next-generation VRMMORPG Sword Art Online.
Since the release of the first volume of the original novel in April 2009, it has enjoyed immense popularity, with over 26 million copies in circulation worldwide as of 2021.
The TV anime series premiered in 2012 and has since aired four seasons. It has also been adapted into a wide range of media, including games and comics.
The Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale was released in 2017 and became a massive hit, grossing over 2.5 billion yen.
"Sword Art Online Progressive" is a reboot series created by the original creator, delving deeply into the journey of the SAO story from the first floor of Aincrad, where it all began.
Original author Reki Kawahara's new "Aincrad" arc, told from Asuna's perspective, is being adapted into a brand-new animated film.
This may be a game, but it's not a game.
Game Over leads directly to death in real life.
The curtain rises anew on the death game of "Sword Art Online," the origin of it all, on the big screen.
★STORY
This is the story before the names "Flash" and "Black Swordsman" were even known.
That day, "Yuuki Asuna," who accidentally wore the "NerveGear,"
was a third-year middle school student with a life unrelated to online games.
The Game Master declared: "This may be a game, but it's not a game."
Death in the game directly leads to death in real life.
Hearing this, all players were thrown into confusion, and screams and cries swirled throughout the game.
Asuna was one of them,
without understanding the rules of the world, she set out to conquer the summitless floating steel castle of Aincrad.
As she survives in a world where death is always close by, Asuna has a fateful encounter. And then a farewell.
At the mercy of the reality before her eyes, but as she fights with all her might, the lone swordsman Kirito appears before her.
