Records of JNR Passenger Trains [Passenger Trains]

The author has been fond of photographing Japanese National Railways trains since the 1960s. The Tokaido Main Line, in particular, was in its postwar golden age before the opening of the Tokaido Shinkansen, when 151-series express trains sped between Tokyo and Osaka. From 1963 to 1964, he was passionate about photographing express trains on the Tokaido Main Line, though not as accomplished. Since then, in his half-century of railway photography, train photos taken on the JNR lines that connect all corners of the country make up a large proportion of his archives. Since compiling all JNR trains in one book would require an enormous number of pages, he has published the book in two volumes: "Passenger Trains" and "Electric and Diesel Trains.
