Introduction
The divine move is a Japanese-planned release intended as a sort of introduction to Vampillia, released ahead of their first album.
It includes "endless summer," a track sung by Noriko Tsujiko, released last year; "dizziness of the sun," written specifically for the Setouchi Triennale; a track featuring Hironori Hasegawa of Aburadaco; and a track featuring Mick Barr (Krallice), who is supported by international luminaries such as John Zorn and Mike Patton. It also includes a track from Vampillia's new "bombs" series, featuring Jun Togawa of BiS on vocals.
The "bombs" series, with lyrics and melodies by Shuichi Manabe, is a concept in which Vampillia takes on the J-POP industry.
This work marks a new phase for both Manabe and Vampillia.
About the Artist
"Vampillia" is a beautiful, acclaimed brutal orchestra born in Osaka. Its members include Tasmanian guitar, noise guitar, soulful funky bass, piano, strings, operatic Velladon, Kikori no Koibori Mongoloid, twin drums, Tatsuya Yoshida and NICE VIEW of Ruins, and Taro Tatsumaki of TURTLE ISLAND. They are renowned for their unnecessarily epic live performances.
Shortly after their debut, they were spotted by a producer who works with artists like Animal Collective and began work on their first album, but various circumstances put it on hold. They subsequently released music on international labels in the US and Italy. Their 2011 album, "alchemic heart," received an 8.0 rating on Pitchfork. A remix of Vampillia's song was included on Clark's "Feast / Beast," released by WARP Records. They also provided the music for the collection of CHRISTIAN DADA, the brand that designs costumes for LADY GAGA. Their first full-length album, recorded and produced at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland, the same studio that produced the works of Bjork and Sigur Rós, is scheduled to be released in 2014 by Virgin Babylon Records.
