Woody Joe 1/75 Scale Rokuon-ji Temple Golden Pavilion, Plain Wood Model Assembly Kit
In 1397, Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, the third shogun of the Muromachi period, built Rokuon-ji Temple, home to the Golden Pavilion, in Kitayama, Kyoto, as a villa.
The temple's expansive garden features numerous trees and a strolling pond. The building, with its exterior walls covered in gold leaf, is known as the Golden Pavilion.
The Golden Pavilion consists of three floors, with the top floor housing a Buddhist statue in the Zen Buddhist style, and the lower floors constructed in a residential style.
These towers, designed for viewing from above, are said to have originated from the upper chambers and Sanmon gates built in the abbot's chambers of Zen temples.
The current Kinkakuji was rebuilt in 1955.
