Shugoro Yamamoto: Women of the Brothel

Shugoro's "brothel stories" were highly praised by Kojima Seijiro, who said, "Works like these are not something that a single author could write many times in a lifetime; they surpass Kafu's "prostitute stories." Despite this, there has never been a collection of short stories that compiles them all together, and the only way to appreciate them is to open various books. This book can be said to be the definitive edition of "brothel stories" (from the commentary).
