If the starter doesn't turn when you press the starter switch and you only hear a "k-k-k-k-k..." noise, this is likely due to a faulty battery or insufficient charge. Check the battery voltage and, if it's bad, charge it or replace it with a new one. If you press the start switch but don't hear a clicking sound or the starter motor doesn't turn, the starter relay may have poor conductivity. Replacing a starter relay is very easy, so if you suspect a malfunction, simply replace it with a new one.
If the starter relay makes a clicking sound, it may be due to a malfunction in the starter motor's drivetrain or a faulty contact in the starter relay.
