Product Introduction
Torii Kazuyoshi (November 12, 1946 - February 9, 2022)
A Japanese manga artist whose hit work, Dr. Toilet, was a hit.
From 1968 onwards, he served as Fujio Akatsuka's assistant at Fujio Productions, and worked with Kunio Hase and Mitsutoshi Furuya on the creation of ideas for "Osomatsu-kun," "Tensai Bakabon," and "Moeru Ataro."
After making his debut with "Kuchinashi Inu," he began serializing the human interest comedy manga "Dr. Toilet" in issue 23 of "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) in 1969, becoming an explosive hit with over 10 million copies in circulation. The series introduced "Sunami Sensei," modeled after Osamu Sunami (January 1, 1944 - August 7, 2014, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture), the Jump editor at the time and the man who coined the term "Shonen Jump." He formed the "Metakuso Gang" with his students Ichirota, Mikazuki, and Chinbo, and the series became a huge hit.
"Dr. Toilet" ended its run in 1977 after 30 volumes.
It was a record-breaking long-running series at the time, and remained the longest-running in Jump history until it was surpassed by "Kochikame" in June 1984.
