[Garnet Coral]
This species was harvested off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands and Midway Islands. It is no longer harvested, and its distribution is decreasing year by year.
It is relatively transparent, and its color ranges from white to pale pink, and sometimes even becomes a salmon pink with an orange tint.
It does not have a distinct white hues like red or peach, but while the surface is pink, the color fades toward the center of the trunk.
For this reason, even loose corals often have white areas on the back.
[About Precious Coral]
Generally, coral that is fashioned into gemstones is the polished bony shaft produced by living organisms called corals.
Corals are in the same family as jellyfish and sea anemones, and are divided into the subclasses Hexacorallia and Octocorallia based on the number of tentacles on the polyps.
Each of the Hexacorallia and Octocorallia subclasses includes hard corals, which have a solid bony shaft, and soft corals, which do not.
Since the bony shaft of Hexacorallia is brittle, octocorals are used as gemstones, but most are soft corals, which do not have a solid bony shaft, and
only some species of Octocorallia are fashioned into gemstones.
This is genuine natural coral, not resin or dyed coral. March birthstone, natural coral, coral accessories, jewelry. We are a specialized coral manufacturer in Kochi, a region famous for its precious coral.
