Introducing the Kutani ware painting style: Old Kutani by Goto Saijiro (about 360 years ago) The original "Kokutani" style was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around 1655. It was created under the guidance of Kusumi Morikage, a master of the Kano school of Japanese painting, and uses five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and deep blue. With its pictorially complete, bold composition and free yet delicate lines, it can be said to be the most Kutani-like style.
Kutani ware is one of Japan's three major colored porcelains and is highly regarded worldwide as a traditional craft representative of Japan, "Japan Kutani."
