From harvesting the bamboo (female bamboo), to degreasing, drying, making the pipes, and tuning, each instrument is carefully made by hand. By making the mouthpiece and finger holes smaller and using slender bamboo, this flute is easy for even beginners to produce a high, clear tone. As the flutes are made from natural bamboo, the color and pattern of the body will vary from one flute to another. There may be uneven coloring on the body. Please be aware of this in advance. The Shinobue "Amanohiragi" is a transverse bamboo flute used in festivals, Kagura and lion dances. The smaller mouthpiece and finger holes, combined with the use of slender bamboo, make it easy for even beginners to produce a high, clear tone. Each flute is carefully handcrafted, from harvesting the Shinobuke (female bamboo) to de-oiling, drying, pipe-making and tuning.
