``EXH-8'' is an external input expansion capsule that adds 4 locking XLR inputs to the ``H8'' handy recorder. Signals from microphones and mixers can be input, and up to 10 channels of audio can be input in conjunction with the 6 inputs installed on the H8 itself. Each input is equipped with a dedicated GAIN knob and -20dB PAD switch, allowing input of the +4dB line level used by professional equipment without distortion. By connecting a DC5V USB power supply (such as the AC adapter AD-17 (sold separately)) to the EXH-8, it is possible to supply the phantom power necessary for using a condenser microphone. When using the H8's built-in MUSIC app, it can be used as an MTR with up to 10 tracks, with the PODCAST app, it can be used as a recorder with 4 sound pads + 8 microphone inputs, and with the FIELD app, it can be used as a field recorder with up to 12 tracks (10 tracks + L/R mix) recording, supporting projects that require up to 10 channels of input.
