The Forager's Daughter Tarot is a collection of 78 uniquely illustrated cards, featuring motifs and narratives found in the flora and fauna around us. Each card articulates new and individual compositions to share a piece of the story of the Fool's journey as described by the Rider Waite Tarot with my own personal mythologies strewn in. A style inspired by the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements, North American colloquial art, Medieval tapestry, and naturalist illustration ties the cards together in beautiful and delicate harmony.
The imagery used in this deck comes from a deep seeded love of nature, and a reverence for the natural cycles happening within and around us all the time. My parents are hunters, fishers, foragers, and gardeners, and this lifestyle taught me to look closely at nature throughout my childhood. I found things reflected in plants and animals that I was experiencing myself: struggles, successes, drives, and relationships. From the transformation of cicadas and butterflies, to stags locked together by aggression, to new growth after an icy winter, and everything in between: these are the metaphorical manifestations of what we experience as we go through life.
