Indeed, aluminum. However, the ends of the tool that are supposed to grip the weed are thick on one side and cannot be stuck into the ground. And on the other side they are narrow, which does not allow to grip the weed.. The photo in the description shows how the main element enters the ground, but in reality the soil must be like fluff to pull out such a weed.

It's unclear how the device works. If you step on the lever, the teeth spread apart, not come together. For them to connect, you need to lift the lever up, not press down on it with your foot. Or tie a rope and lift the lever up. And you also need a handle.
