According to Maximum the Ryo-kun, the band's name comes from "playing music that gets your blood pumping and your muscles dancing, enough to get your hormones flowing at their maximum!" However, this was actually an afterthought. The band members all love meat, so they combined the word "hormones" from yakiniku (grilled meat) with the cool "MAXIMUM" sound. [3]
Originally, the name was written in English as "Maximum The Hormone," but after a line-up change, it was written in katakana (although the English spelling is sometimes used even after the katakana spelling).
They are often written as "Maximum the Hormone" or "Maximum the Hormone," but the official spelling is "Maximum the Hormone," with a half-width space between each word.
As a unique project, they irregularly hold limited free live shows called "Hellscape," which are Hormone-style festivals.
The main conditions for admission include "Men over 70kg," "Men under 55kg," "Eat a whole clove of raw garlic upon entry, wear a long-sleeved down jacket throughout the performance," "Be under 160cm tall," "Drink milk in one gulp upon entry," "Hold a pacifier in your mouth throughout the performance, and be removed if you drop it," among other harsh conditions imposed on the audience.
