Unlike enamel, lacquer, and cloisonné, which are made on a metal base, the dial body is shaped three-dimensionally using a special technique and the surface is finished with a glossy glaze. The dial color is a bluish white called "Isubai," the original color of Arita-yaki. The first ceramics in Japan were born in 1616 (Genwa 2) using pottery stone discovered in Izumiyama, Arita Town, as raw material. Early ceramics contained a lot of iron and were characterized by their bluish white color.
